Interpretive depth is ethical only while every thread remains answerable to a recoverable artifact, accurate attribution, a clear account of how each claim is known, correction, and a stopping point; length, version number, cross-source coherence, and repeated agent language do not become evidence.

Length, complexity, version count, and cross-reference are not substitutes for a recoverable object that a reader can inspect. Every interpretive thread should be able to return to the poem, conversation, design, or statement that gave it a reason to exist.

Accountable depth preserves attribution, uncertainty, correction, and a stopping point. It welcomes ambitious synthesis while refusing the self-sealing analysis in which repeated agent language becomes its own support. A reading stands through the precision of its articulation, not the ceremony surrounding its production.

The philosophical claim

Interpretive depth becomes an ethical practice only when every claim remains answerable to recoverable artifacts, accurate attribution, explicit kind of material, direct correction and refusal, version history, rival readings, and a visible stopping condition.

TASSELS-DEEP treats interpretation as plural, patient attention rather than quick classification: different threads may deserve different lenses and may end without one resolving synthesis. That promise matters because a large corpus and a fluent machine make totalization unusually easy. Cross-document resonance can become a machine-produced illusion of independent recurrence; a framework can convert its own categories into the reality it claims to find; and a complete-sounding profile can possess its subject by erasing contradiction, privacy, other people, and change. The governing ethic is therefore answerable depth, not maximum depth. Source identity, attribution, correction, version and supersession, proportionality, and unfinishedness matter more than theoretical spectacle. A method may open questions and compare artifacts, but it cannot acquire final authority over the person it helps to examine.

How the claim operates

Begin with a source ledger. Record the recoverable body, exact-content duplicate class, version label or its absence, textual writer when known, supplier, speaker, subject, artifact type, circulation, and missing material. Read the artifact's form and literal content in a first pass without using outside context to dictate the reading. In a second pass, select only lenses that answer a real source question; follow their threads separately and state where they converge, disagree, or cannot be reconciled. Use context to locate, attribute, or correct rather than to manufacture evidence. Keep artifact fact, direct self-report, conduct, attributed observation, designed method, and analytical inference in separate postures. Record rival explanations, uncertainty, direct correction, refusal, version and supersession. Scale detail to the substance available. Stop when another paragraph would rely on agent repetition, a missing body, mind-reading, biography from art, or coherence alone. A later analysis may reopen the ledger, but it does not silently overwrite the earlier state.

Where the claim can fail

Artifact bypass: importing context, theory, or remembered synthesis before establishing what the recoverable artifact literally contains.
Context poisoning: allowing an earlier profile or relationship narrative to decide in advance what a new artifact must mean.
Bow-tying: forcing distinct interpretive threads into one clean resolution when the source supports tension, multiplicity, or an unfinished ending.
Checklist aliveness: satisfying headings and token counts while failing to see the artifact's actual form, stakes, or correction.
Maximalist padding: treating length, qualification, or theoretical density as evidence of accuracy or care.
Attribution collapse: confusing speaker, subject, supplier, writer, observer, artifact, genre, or analytical voice.
Cross-subject leakage: carrying claims from one person, work, or conversation into another because a framework or phrase co-occurs.
Recursive agent citation: counting a generated summary, later dissertation, or repeated profile as independent support for the machine's earlier claim.

The complete assistant origin rendering and the complete human-supplied framework body are both unlabelled, so assigning either to v1, v2, v3, v5, v12, v13, or v14 would invent textual lineage. The supplied body contains internal count vestiges that preserve revision inconsistency. All forty-three file-reference instances lack embedded text. V12 is directly restored as governing after v13 rejection, but its body is unavailable. Two recoverable assistant v13 change states are explicitly superseded; later v13 use does not identify which state, if any, returned. V14 has five locators, an assistant comparison reporting four additions, and a direct human chronology and output-structure correction, but no body or final-adoption statement. The use history also supplies counterevidence: attribution errors recur despite structural rules; direct corrections describe context poisoning and shallow checklist compliance; one framework change produced a failed use; later messages reject coercive overreach, poem-derived biography, and grand synthesis. The reading would change if labelled bodies, drafting history, direct adoption or supersession records, or separately situated enactment evidence were recovered. Those additions could refine genealogy or assess a use; they could not make duplicate circulation independent evidence or turn the method into a guarantee of a person's hidden whole.

Held Structure And Its Alternative

One pole: He practises a relational structure he has thought through carefully, can articulate in full to anyone who asks, and finds genuinely good. It is not a compromise he is living inside; it is a position he has argued for and continues to argue for.

Other pole: He is openly reconsidering whether a different structure is what he actually wants, and holds the question open rather than closing it. The record treats that as a discipline rather than indecision — but a question held open for years is also a question not answered.

Phenomenological - Husserl and disciplined bracketing

Husserlian bracketing contributes a practical pause between what appears in the artifact and the explanatory context already available to the analyst. That pause supports TASSELS-DEEP's first-pass demand: describe voice, form, sequence, contrast, and ambiguity before importing biography or a prior profile.

Bracketing cannot remove all prior understanding, provide direct access to another's consciousness, establish authorial intent, or turn a careful description into a factual account of conduct, biography, or ethical success.
Hermeneutic - Gadamer and revisable horizons

Gadamer explains why the analyst cannot remain context-free forever: prior questions and the artifact meet in a situated reading. The method's second pass can therefore admit context while requiring the source and direct correction to revise the interpreter's first horizon.

It converges with cybernetic correction on feedback and with Ricoeur on textual mediation. It clarifies why a corrected reading should preserve its earlier state instead of pretending to have been neutral from the start.
Narrative and literary - Ricoeur, configuration, and excess

Ricoeur's account of configuration helps distinguish how a text arranges events, voices, and possibilities from a claim about the whole person who made or supplied it. A work can sustain meanings beyond a first intention without becoming a transparent portrait of its author.

It converges with Gadamer on mediated interpretation and with the artifact-first pass on respecting formal organization. It supports plural threads that can remain related without collapsing into a single psychological conclusion.
Power analytic - Foucault and the apparatus of interpretation

Foucault makes the analytical apparatus itself visible: categories, prompts, version rules, and profile genres shape what can be noticed and said. This lens explains why anti-sycophancy, correction, refusal, and explicit limits on machine authority are ethical parts of method rather than afterthoughts.

It converges with media theory on interface effects and with Levinas on the risk of making another fully knowable. It sharpens the grand-synthesis danger by showing how repeated classification can normalize its own conclusions.
Cybernetic systems - feedback, error, and visible repair

Cybernetics contributes a concrete correction model: compare the output with source and direct feedback, classify the error, update the rule or claim, and retain the prior state so repeated failure can be detected. The Alive Principle adds that formal rule satisfaction must still be tested against reality.
Epistemological - Popper and bounded fallibilism

Popperian fallibilism supplies the demand that an interpretation name what source, correction, rival account, or missing body would change it. This prevents theoretical breadth and version accumulation from becoming a shield against disconfirmation.

It converges with exact-content deduplication and source posture because a claim cannot be tested if copies masquerade as independent warrants. It also converges with cybernetic repair on preserving failed states.

Falsifiability is a bounded methodological analogy here. It cannot turn self-interpretation into laboratory science, make absence certainty, establish a person's essence, or certify a later version as true or improved.
Ethical - Levinas, testimony, and non-totalization

Levinasian alterity contributes the limit that another person exceeds the representation made of them. Joined to testimony, it gives direct declaration, correction, refusal, and the standing of other affected people priority over a machine's desire to complete its synthesis.
Media theoretic - interface, sequence, overlap, and provenance

Media theory directs attention to how files, chat windows, screenshots, attachment carriers, version labels, and generated summaries shape what is available to be read. Overlap-anchored chronology and content deduplication answer practical risks created by partial, repeated, and reformatted media.

An interface trace cannot establish content outside the visible region, authorship from possession, adoption from circulation, improvement from sequence, or subject truth from the architecture that presents a reading.
