Listening begins by interrupting the rush to prepare an answer. Words, emphasis, sequence, hesitation, and what remains unsaid are allowed to arrive as a whole communication before they are converted into a rebuttal, solution, or performance of understanding.

Kindness is not reserved for moments when affection is effortless or agreement is secure. Patience, basic regard, and a refusal to humiliate remain the minimum form of encounter even when the inner weather is irritated, tired, frightened, or uncertain.

Neither truth is made to disappear.
He is fluent at giving and gives at volume — attention held without competing for it, time offered before it is requested, help arranged so that accepting it costs the other person nothing. None of it carries a debt, and it is the most consistent behaviour the record holds.
He does not ask. The capacity to make a bid for what he needs is named, by him, as unfinished — and when someone asks him directly he gives substantially, which locates the inhibition in initiating rather than in responding. The generosity and the silence about his own needs come from one disposition.
Neither truth is made to disappear.
He practises a relational structure he has thought through carefully, can articulate in full to anyone who asks, and finds genuinely good. It is not a compromise he is living inside; it is a position he has argued for and continues to argue for.
He is openly reconsidering whether a different structure is what he actually wants, and holds the question open rather than closing it. The record treats that as a discipline rather than indecision — but a question held open for years is also a question not answered.
